The Black Iris Festival

The Black Iris Festival

Back in 2010 the Black Iris Festival which is organized annually by the American Women of Amman (AWA) had so many beneficiaries, all of which was community action raised via the Black Iris Festival earnings, this included sending out care packages in Ramadan to families in Ma’een, covering the tuition for 10 orphans in Anjara High School and a back to school campaign for the needy students in Zarqa. It’s worth mentioning that the Black Iris Community Action in 2010 included the White Bed Society on the International Old Citizen Day, tuition for university students and food baskets for unprivileged people in Amman and Zarqa and much more…

The Black Iris Festival will be held at the Exit Club this year (Airport Road), on May 20th, where 2011 proceeds will also be distributed for community action. The proceeds are solicited through entry tickets sales, raffle tickets sales, tombola tickets and the vendors participating in the event, and since they have done a kick-ass job for the past couple of years, I have figured I’d write about the event and tell you all about it.

See, there are no actual words to describe the Black Iris Festival, other than the fact that one Friday a month, you can take your friends or family out and enjoy a perfect summer weather, take pleasure in buying your self goodies and have sensational food offered at the festival while watching performers go at it on stage, all while knowing you are giving back to the community.

So the question that lies here is do you want to have a fun filled family or friends day, the Black Iris is the place to be this year. Admissions for adults are 5 JDs and 3 JDs for Children under the age of 12, with live performances by many local bands and performers. Ofcourse you dont have to worry about your children getting bored and wanting to go home, because there are so many children activities including: Bouncy Castles, Pony & Camel Rides, Face Painting, Balloons, Games & much more.
When hunger strikes, you can the Black Iris Food court which brings together Zee Diner, Nood Asia & Salad House.  Lets just say I am supporting the Black Iris Festival this year and I invite each and everyone one of you to do the same, here is how you can locate them on Social Media Platforms, hope to see you all there on May 20th!
