NYIT Alumni: A few words can say volumes
To many the word “alumni” us unfamiliar territory, in Jordan at least where we tend to get the hell out of University and never look back. If anything most of us resent our education system, our professors and the whole concept of how dull our college life has been.
Don’t get me wrong, I am not trying to tell u that it was great with gremlins dancing on a rainbow that rains skittles, it sure as hell wasn’t, my undergraduate years were bitter sweet, believe it or not I still hold a grudge against many professors and sometimes cant stand the idea of some really nasty memories but then again, at NYIT we had a campus life, with the minimal resources that we have complained about over and over, we have managed to make the best out of it, and I know as much as you do, that there are times when you say College Life was some if the best years you have had out there (yes. If you are a working professional, stuck in your traditional 9 to 5, and giving beyond the work hours to make it into the corporate world, then you know exactly what I am talking about.
With that said, yesterday seemed like a chance to make a difference to reconnect with NYIT Alumni in Jordan and share their success stories with the world. A group of NYIT Alumni met up at the NYIT Graduate Campus, brainstormed and socialized over pizza to create a few committees in making the Alumni Experience what we hope to be a success story in January of 2012, some of the committee that have been established and could use your input and time if you could spare it includes:
Out-Reach Committee; this is the committee which will be responsible for Volunteer Events, Community Involvement Programs and Mentorship Programs. The NYIT Mentorship Program is quite noteworthy; it has been designed to ease the transition from college to career by matching current NYIT students with experienced professionals. The Mentors’ role (Ideally in this case an NYIT Alumni) is to inspire, inform, guide, encourage, and support students through these critical transformative years.
Other committees include the Networking and Social Events Committee which will be responsible of organizing socializing and networking events and the Digital Media Committee which shall be responsible for Social Media, Alumni Success Stories and spreading the word.
Lets not forget the Finance Committee which shall be responsible of budgeting and fundraising events, along side the general committee where the core responsibility at this point is gathering information of all NYIT Alumni and compiling it into a database, this will be followed by the NYIT Rewards Card planning and the Alumni Awards.
Sounds like a lot of worth but believe it or not, it’s worth while, reconnecting with Alumni, Networking with them and sharing success stories is more rewarding and fulfilling than one would ever imagine. For instance, did you know we have some seriously remarkable Alumni out there making a difference in the Corporate World or as Entrepreneurs everyday? If you are still in touch with some of your friends back in the day, then you probably do, some of our most remarkable entrepreneurs include Aladdin Qattouri founder of Photoholics Studios, Ibrahim and Mohammad Al-Ma’ani co-founders of Wheels Express and, Michael Makdah cofounder of Jo Bedu, and don’t forget the big players in town some of the leading figures in the Corporate World are remarkable NYIT Alums, Deema Bibi CEO of Injaz and Bakr Dirani, Managing Director at dot.jo
Those success stories are ones to share and in order for that to happen we need to work on establishing a solid database of what everyone has been up to lately.

Deep inside I know the efforts of what had taken place yesterday wont go to waste and will come up to create something unique and worthwhile, hopefully the efforts will conclude into crating and establishing an Official NYIT Alumni Association and make a difference by showing everyone out there what we are all about.
