The “Candwich”?!

The “Candwich” has really gotten to me and got me thinking. As a student in process of earning my Master’s of Business Administration I cannot help to think of the creativity of the candwich notion, making a marketing where it hasn’t existed before, coming up with a product among one of the most successful industries worldwide (Food & Beverage) must be a million dollar idea.

In a commercial point of view a Sandwich in a Can a.k.a a Sandwich is really convenient seeing as most of us are living on the fast track in life, so just popping open a can that has a Peanut Butter and Jelly or a Bacon and Cheese Sandwich is beyond convenient it’s spectacular.

But I still don’t seem to get it, how can BREAD survive remaining fresh in a can. In a documentary about the CANDWICH I learned that the bread out of a can was inspired by the army, after all bread was baked for the US Army to survive weeks of storage, but the convenience isn’t fresh enough for me.

Mark One Foods were looking and are still looking for money to make the candwich come true, some have reportedly say that they have “tricked” investors to believe that they were investing in some real-estate business, but where later surprised that their money has gone into the candwich, hence the whole project is facing a huge lawsuit at this point. According to an SEC lawsuit, Travis L. Wright raised $145 million from 175 investors between 2001 and 2009. Their investment? Commercial real estate with a promised 24% return. He spent $6 million on the real estate.

Although I would never eat a sandwich out of a can, no matter how tasty, well-packed or busy my life can be, I can’t help but wonder how some would even consider it? Convenient? Yes? Doesn’t need a refrigerator? Absolutely but then again, its pure preservatives in a can, after all, a sandwich isn’t a sandwich unless you make it your self, afterall some of us love pickles, olives, mayo and mustard in our sandwiches, so that’s what makes a sandwich more personal. In my opinion at least.

Whetehr you chose to enjoy a sandwich or a canwich, Bon Appetite!

P.S: I am personally off to make my self a turkey and roastbeef sandwich with Mustard, Mayonnaise, Pickles, Green Peppers, Lettuce and Honey Mustard!
